This isn't the first time I've been to the Dubai Garden Centre, and it certainly won't be the last. My friends and I went there for the first time in 2015 when I got my first indoor plants, and I've been hooked ever since. I can think of a lot of reasons to keep going back. Let me name a few:
It's a horticultural paradise
Of course, you'll find a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants that, with some help and gardening techniques, can thrive in extreme Dubai weather. There are available gardening supplies and some interesting pieces that you might also want to add to your garden or home in general. These include fountains, outdoor furniture, garden accesories, gardening tools, fresh flowers and decorative ones (not a fan of those), wood-fire ovens, modern outdoor grills (like those by Jamie Oliver), fishing equipment, fresh herbs, etc.
I get my fat plants from DGC. Thankfully, I have been able to not only take care of my first succulents and cacti from 2015, but I have also been propagating them in mid 2016. I'll post on how I've been taking care of my cacti and succulents at home in Dubai in another post. (And, if you're interested in that, welcome to the #oldladyclub LOL.)
Pet supplies, mini library, artwork & furniture...
If you have cats, dogs, an aquarium or a terrarium, you can take care of it too when you visit. They have a section on the ground floor for pet care. On the floor above, you will find art pieces, rustic to modern indoor / outdoor furniture, decorative and functional pieces, candles and burning oils, and best of all, a second-hand bookstore.
You can pretty much spend a lot of time in DGC, because when you get hungry / thirsty, there's a quiet and quaint little cafe right smack in the center. I was there for brunch the last time. I sat on one of those wicker chairs enjoyed the hanging plants, the view of the garden outside, a good cup of cappuccino and some creamy mushroom toast while reading my first book in 2017.
The staff was friendly, service was fast, the crowd was quite nice (ladies who brunch / families), and food & beverage was great.
