I shamelessly missed seasons 3 and 4 (2014 and 2015) of Dubai Miracle Garden, because I kept waiting for my friends to be available to go there with me. Unfortunately, something always came up and we never got to go. So this year, I thought I would take myself to see Season 5, and I'm really glad I randomly did.
Just like everyone else, I took a crap ton of photos and videos, but this one right here is definitely one of my favorites. It looks like a fairy tale. Sigh.
As expected of Dubai, they really pulled all the stops this time and got another Guinness record for the largest floral installation, which is a replica of the Airbus 380. It was most opportune as it became part of the celebration of the 45th UAE National Day, and it is also sponsored by the flag carrier, Emirates Airlines. This is on top of their Guinness record for largest vertical garden in 2013 and World Travel Awards in a much earlier season.
According to this Gulf News article:
"Over 300 tonnes of steel and 50 tonnes of concrete were used to construct the structure that can carry about 90 tonnes of flowers. The flowers and plants used for the installation were sustainably grown and harvested over a four-month period at Dubai Miracle Garden nurseries. The structure, built in the shape of an Emirates A380 aircraft, is covered with more than 500,000 flowers, apart from the 900 flowers used to shape the Emirates Airline logo."
Let's have a look at over 100 million blooming flowers!
I thought you might like some tips to enjoy DMG:
Wear cozy, comfy clothes and shoes. You'll be walking a bit and it's windy and cool lately.
Come early to avoid the crowd. The park opens at 9:00 AM. Click here for timings & rates
Bring cash as the ticket booth and food stalls only accept cash.
Don't bother with food. There is a good selection of food and drinks stands every where and with proper seating. If you ask me, picnic style is the best!
Don't step too close to the flower boxes; the staff will literally blow their whistle at you. LOL
Parking might prove to be a challenge during busy days/hours, you can take the RTA Bus 105, which has a 20-minute interval to/from Mall of the Emirates. Get your Nol cards out!
Thanks for reaching nearly the end of this long entry. Hang on.
